Competitive dan grading (men, women, seniors, veterans)

£30 on the day or £25 in advance through website (+£10 dual veterans & seniors entry)

Registering (and paying) through the website attracts a £5 discount.

Advance registration closes end of 2nd May 2024

All 1st kyu and higher graded players welcome, men and women, seniors and veterans.

Veteran men & all ladies - morning booking in 0915-0945

Senior (open age) men: - booking in 1200-1230

Those in regular (open age) senior grading, we'll get you booked in as soon as we can once veterans are underway. Expect around midday.

Travel

Town roads can get very busy if there are events on (eg racing). Venue parking is limited. There is a an NCP car park next to venue.
York train station is just 5 minute stroll from venue (turn right as you exit station).
There is a decent Park and Ride service running buses every 15 minutes (use train station stop).

Please remember to bring with you:

  • WHITE kit and blue/white belts
  • Valid (in date) licence. Recreational licences are NOT acceptable for gradings.
  • Proof of grade - your record book should be signed by your coach (1st kyus) or have been stamped by BJA (dan grades)
  • Points cards if you have any (we will have some if you don't)
  • Enthusiasm for winning points!

Dan grades - when registering, please enter your highest competitive grade.

We can do theory exams for competitive grades if needed.

A life in Judo : Parry Asquith

Please help us celebrate PARRY ASQUITH’s induction into the West Yorkshire Judo “Hall of Fame” and becoming Honorary President of the West Yorkshire Judo County

Arthur Asquith better known as PARRY ASQUITH has been involved in judo for decades, he competed in the sixties and seventies and has been area coach (when the legendary Steve Gawthorpe and Ryan Birch were competing) and has been a massive contributor to the Yorkshire and Humberside Area for as long as anyone can remember. 

Do you have any memories or anecdotes of PARRY in his hey day or any other time, did you fight PARRY?  Please send any stories or anecdotes either direct to West Yorkshire County committee to to Y & H and we'll pass them on.

PARRY is now in the twilight of his judo journey. We will be honouring PARRY on the 1st JUNE.

1st4Sport level 2 coaching course

Assessment Day: 18th August 2024

Candidates must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a current member of the British Judo Association
  • Hold a minimum British Judo Association 1st Kyu Grade
  • It is recommended that candidates hold a BJA Level 1 coaching award
  • Be able to communicate effectively in English (listening, speaking, reading and writing)

Y & H members may be eligible for financial support from the area.
