Not a bad year for the area, with successes across the spectrum of Judo.
We purchased modern scoreboards a few years back and in 2024 we added video replay for the referees (CARE) which proved a solid and popular investment when first used at the annual Sheffield University Kyu grade Tournament.
We continue to see individuals from the area representing the area within the BJA, Caroline Brayson joining the Veterans Commission and Ben George joining the Promotions Commission.
Neil Fletcher continues to be involved at the highest level of the organisation as BJA vice-chair.
We continue to support players, enabling participation at the annual Glaspalast Sindelfingen tournament and contributing to costs of players selected by the BJA to attend international events and the EJU Junior Cup in Birmingham.
While some are taking up new roles, others are deciding it’s time to step down from area responsibilities. Our treasurer of many years, John Bunyan has decided it is time to hand over his calculator to our new treasurer Kim Savage.
As we reflect, it would be a good time to remember Elaine Parkinson. A long serving member of the area who has not been well lately.
