The Yorkshire & Humberside Judo Referee Representative is a (voluntary) role responsible for co-ordinating referee recruitment, referee training and ensuring we have sufficient referees at events.

Alan Medley has been fulfilling this role for the Yorkshire & Humberside area for over fifty years. Truly dedicated.

In addition he has been the lead referee at most of our events, providing mentoring and tutoring for local referees.

Alan has fulfilled these roles in addition to working as a referee at events locally, nationally and internationally.  Including world championship level events which led to Alan qualifying as an IJF referee in the 1980s.

Alan has finally hung up his blazer as an active referee.
While he may still be seen at events in future continuing to develop and examine our referee team.

Even at his last event Alan didn't sit-back, completing an assessment of our latest area referee, Cian Maris.

Thank you so much from the area for all you have done to support the area over the decades. No doubt there will be many refs around the country who would want to thank you for your help, influence and tutoring.

Enjoy your retirement Alan!
